Oh, the Places You’ll Go…

- AIGA: iMPROVE. iNVENT. iNSPIRE: Great design is green. From paper choice to technotrash, learning how to design with the environment in mind. 13 September at the Creative Alliance.
- World Dance Festival 2007 at The Community College of Baltimore County: 19-22 September. For $10 take a urban dance master class with the “Krump Kings” on the 22nd.
- James Reick – one of my favorite painters with his large scale works of vintage catalog fashions – speaks on Monday 24 September, 3:30 pm at MICA as part of their “Artists on Mondays” lecture series.
- Garrison Keillor reads from his new Lake Wobegon novel, Pontoon, at the Enoch Pratt Central Branch at 5pm on Sunday October 14th.
- Edward Tufte is the man when it comes to information design (for any industry). Attend one of his seminars 15-17 October and walk out feeling 10 times smarter (and with 4 great books in your hands). (He sold me as two years ago when I attended by saying power point is evil when used any way besides as a projection tool).
- Design in Social Context 17 October at the BMA. Five nationally recognized designers as they discuss the role of graphic design in today’s society.
- AIGA’s 10th Annual Pulp, Ink & Hops paper show at AVAM on 25 October. Free paper samples and local brews. What could be a better combo?

I LOVE EDWARD TUFTE. The man is a rock star of data presentation. And his books are absolutely beautiful. I highly encourage professionals to attend his seminar. Yes, I realize I am an uber dork…
