Pomme Picking
I love everything about fall- from the weather to fall fashions, foods to festivities. And nothing says fall better than apple picking. There are tons of great pick-your-own orchards in the area, so check out this great list – “Good to the Core” – compiled by the Washington Post to pick your fancy.
Another place worth checking out is Butler’s Orchard in Germantown, Maryland. Beyond picking (of all kinds) they offer hayrides followed by bonfires. It’s a great way to cozy up with your friends. {images by ASD}
P.S. Special thanks to Lara at Cool Travel Guide for the shout out to my blog. I absoultely LOVE how she described it: “part ‘what’s on’ guide to Baltimore and part musings on travel and design, Prêt à Voyager will have you tossing a coin, heads=Baltimore or tails=the world.” Lara is a seasoned travel writer and has written a handful of travel guides for Lonely Planet and DK (among others) and recently started a wonderful blog of her own travel musings (the things that she wishes she could put in her guides). Check out today’s post for more wonderful travel blogs she’s discovered!

Mm, the crisp flesh of an apple has the perfect flavor of autumn. When I was a kid, we’d go to an old apple farm to buy pumpkins for carving, so Halloween and autumn apples will always be nostalgicly linked in my mind. -X
