What I’m rEATing

I hate it when I come across something great and can’t help but think to myself, why didn’t I come up with that first? Tucker Shaw’s Everything I Ate gave me that exact feeling in his book which was a photo “documentary” of everything he ate during 2004. So rather than feel at a loss, I decided to feel inspired, and documented a bit of everything I ate during my trip. . . I must warn you, my posts are going to be a bit all over the place these days as I process everything from my trip (I have 2,200 pictures to sort through as not to bore you to tears), but I promise there is much to look forward to from features on street art/graffiti, fashion, design spots, cool finds, the big fat Greek wedding (!!!!!), food and so much more. Stay tuned tomorrow for the first installment of “Everything I Ate: Cyprus.”

And while on the topic of food, just had to give a shout out to my book of the moment: Julie & Julia: 365 days, 524 recipes, 1 tiny apartment kitchen. It’s the tale of Julie Powell, who puts her life on hold in pursuit of something more fulfilling than her secretarial job. So she turned to Julia Child and decided to cook ALL 524 recipes (no substitutions) in Mastering the Art of French Cooking over the course of a one year period. As a project oriented person I can definitely appreciate her creativity and drive (despite being crazy at times) and writing style. A fun read. Now I’ll have to visit Julia Child’s Kitchen at the Smithsonian next time I’m in DC. . .Oh, and here’s the link to her blog where it all started.

But, wait, there’s more! So while I’m on the topic of cooking, I must point out the fantastic new Friday cooking column on Design*Sponge, edited by Kristina of Three Layer Cake. The first installment is “In The Kitchen With Camilla Engman.” So creative!
