Beaujolais Nouveau
While the US has Hallmark creating and commercializing holidays to stay competitive in the greeting card industry, the French would rather focus their holidays around something they do best – wine. The 3rd Thursday in November (sorry, I’m a few days late with this one), marks Beaujolais Nouveau, the date when the wine is released for consumption in restaurants and stores. Never mind that most French scoff at this wine made from young grapes, I still think it’s brilliant that they’ve created a holiday where the purpose is to drink wine and be merry! You be the judge- this wine is readily available at your local wine store.

Thanks to a pushy Winchester wine store merchant (he had cases of the stuff) I have my beaujolais noveau ready for Turkey day!
