The Doors
My favorite thing about not having a car is being able to walk the wrong way on one way streets and discover details I’ve never noticed before- like this awesome church door on Park Ave yesterday. Perfect timing for today’s “Doors” posting around the blogsphere. (Thanks to Elizabeth from “The House in Marrakesh” for the tip/organizing…more Doors/links from Frank (“My Paint Box”), the other organizer here).
Still, I think my Cyprus doors are my favorite.

A wonderful door.
Yes, not having a car has lots of advantages.
Tried but failed to get Cyprus doors.
Will try again later.

Anne, in a roundabout way you’ve given me my joy and my inspiration for the day. The thought of being able to walk the wrong way on a one way street — fantastic and it’s true. What we miss when we are driving. By being able to do something usually “forbidden” you are able to examine and explore. I love this!

I was struck by the same unexpected beauty when I passed by these very doors on a stroll in B-more last summer: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lostinplace/550569091/in/set-72157594265722830/

Yes, Christine, they’re near the Washington monument on Park Ave in Baltimore. And if you do visit baltimore, check out the guide I have linked on the right column.

Beautiful door!
I saw over at Elizabeth’s blog that you were from Baltimore, so I had to peek! I know what you mean by looking at the world in a different way while walking. Ever since I moved to Vienna I walk and walk, sometimes I really have to force myself to stop and work, otherwise I’d be out there all the time walking and looking. ;-)

Beautiful! I agree: that blue is unexpected, but so cheerful! The lack of these little details is one downside to suburban living.

I can’t believe I haven’t noticed this door before and I live on Park Ave! Love your blog, and love the door. Where is it?

Thanks for all your kind words everyone! . . Emlyn, it’s at the Church on Park a block or two south of Madison (it slips my mind what cross street at the moment).
