House Swapping
When it comes to travel, I do it on the cheap and my very reasonable rent definitely allows me to run away on a couple big trips a year. But this article all about house swapping by the lovely Joanna Goddard in the new issue of Budget Travel magazine makes me wish I had a fabulous place of my own just so I could trade it with cool people all around the world. I mean, I think it helps that she lives in NYC (vs. Baltimore), but still, what an awesome (and affordable!) way to experience a new place! Click here for the full article, and here for the feature on CNN.

Too funny.. when I saw the movie “The Holiday”, I swore that was the route I’d take with my next trip! Of course, I’ve not yet done so, but after reading Joanna’s article, it makes me less hesitant to truly consider it.

Don’t underestimate Baltimore, it’s a cool city! I’ve always wanted to try this. I have a one bedroom flat in San Francisco that’s just perfect for swapping.

I thought about this as a good way to travel on a budget. However I concluded that the reality would be a week of spring-cleaning my house before leaving and the rest of the holiday recovering from my exertions. But I’m going to read that article & see if I change my mind.

LOVED this article, too. Wish I had a place people wanted to swap with.
