CHANGE.
Change is quite the buzz word these days. On election day I saw this “change [parking] meter” that had popped up on Charles Street in downtown Baltimore. The pole reads “give your change to make a change for homeless people.” I’m not sure the whole story behind it, but I love the idea of it as a way to give loose change to benefit people who need it most, and trust that it will go to a good use. I’d love to see more of these show up around cities as a public reminder that we all can can help, and it starts with small actions like this.

It’s an initiative of the Downtown Partnership’s President Kirby Fowler who has had a long-time interest in homelessness in B-more. I served on the South Baltimore Homeless SHelter’s board with him in the mid-1990s.
