Casco Viejo

Casco Viejo, old city Panama was essentially in two shapes – complete shambles or beautifully restored (top right is the Panamanian “White House”). The city is making a big effort to restore the historic district, but there’s a lot of work to be done (and money needed to back it all). Still, there was much beauty, as this was my favorite area in Panama, reminding me of Havana and old Nicosia (Cyprus).

  • Hi there, I’ve been following Escape from NY’s Wendy’s writing from Panama City as I am planning a trip there soon, and was referred over here. The old town looks so lovely, I cant wait to go see it for myself! Great pictures.
