Voluntourism
When catching up with Lara Dunston’s adventures as a travel guide writer on Cool Travel Guide yesterday, I came across a great travel site that’s new to me: Matador. There are all sorts of great features throughout the site (I especially like the “Change” articles), but the one that immediately caught my eye (especially given Wednesday’s post) was the article entitled, 10 Volunteer Opportunities for Free Travel. It was a good reminder that I still am dying to try WWOOFing (work on an organic farm in exchange for lodging and meals), and I learnd about so many wonderful opportunities I had no idea were out there. Check it out for yourself – click HERE.

Wouldn’t call volunteering a free travel opportunity. Not only all the transport expenses are on you but there are also participation fees and you have to work it off.

i agree. perhaps the title of the article isn’t the best, but still many opportunities, and ones that don’t involve actually paying to do them…

You must check out this postcard-driven/travel guide/journal ‘A little Beijing’ which I’ve just blogged about:

I think you’ll love it!
Linzy self-financed/published them, so they can be purchased from her site.
I’ve just received mine and it’s absolutely gorgeous – so inspirational! Makes me want to go to Beijing just to test them out!
