Au Maroc

I find it kind of amazing that over the past couple years, the top two travel destinations by my friends are India and Morocco, and both are on my agenda for the next year. In fact, I’ve created a semester long project where I’ll be looking closely at Morocco from a communications and travel/tourism/hospitality perspective. It’s a place in the world that I’ve always been fascinated by, but never been. So I’m trying to take advantage of that fact as I move forward with my research, and before I head down for my first visit for a couple weeks in early March. I welcome you to share any Moroccan inspirations, ideas, impressions and recommendations below! In the meantime too, please enjoy the Moroccan images by the talented Margaret Vest.

  • Be sure to visit Essaouira and Marrakech! If you need hotel recommendations, I highly suggest Riad Dar One! Owner Jean Peres is a sweetheart, and so are his staff! He has a gorgeous, intimate guesthouse in the edge of the Mellah, about 10 minutes walk to Djemaa El Fna. In Essaouira, I highly, highly recommend Villa de l’O. Owner Celine Colliere did a fabulous job decorating her riad. I have some photos and reviews in my blog Folie a Deux or you can check their respective websites!

  • You should not miss Jemma el Fna at night. I know is cliche, but really… The energy of Marrakesh at night is just amazing. Like Jen said, Essaouira should never be missed. And if you get a chance, go up north to Chefchaouen. And to travel around, there’s nothing more colorful than a bus. So to hop from city to city, try to catch a bus, as opposed to a train, at least once.

And drink a lot of mint tea. Everywhere you go, just order mint tea!

Will love to see some photos when you come back.

And last, March is the perfect time to go. First time I went to Morocco was in March. Loved it!!

  • Traveling to India has been a bit of a life long goal for my wife and I. We bought our tickets leaving in mid April. Its all a bit crazy because we just got back from Costa Rica, but when opportunity comes, we felt we had to strike.
    When are you going?

  • It is really nice place to visit, but we should also be very conscious about the accommodation there. we should choose places to visit, where we can easily find accommodation. so if you are looking for such place then you can detail information about place & also accommodation there from Hank Freid to organize your tour.
