Les Communes de Paris {WebDoc}

WebDocs [web documentaries] are a fascinating way documentary + film are used to capture a city deeper than its facade (although I have to admit, I’m not a fan of the phrase – it sounds too much like something Microsoft invented). They combine new media and more “traditional” film making to explore a place, namely through its inhabitants. Les Communes de Paris is the WebDoc site devoted to Paris and its periphery.
You get an intimate look at people and their daily lives, from a metro driver to a homeless immigrant along the quai of Canal St. Martin. The series helps take a deeper look at the city in the way that locals often glaze over or have never noticed. Each story stands alone, yet build on the concept of the whole: this is Paris.
