This summer amongst the madness of French paperwork and business plans, I got to be part of one of my favorite projects to date: writing my first pieces for print in Anthology magazine’s 1st anniversary “Going Global” issue. Even better than working with a fabulous team (particularly, Editor-in-Chief Anh-Minh Le) that takes their art seriously, was opportunity to write a piece that celebrates so many wonderful people I’ve met while in Paris. I first got involved thanks to Jordan Ferney, a festive crafter who documents her own projects and her family’s year in Paris on her blog Oh Happy Day! (her husband Paul is a very talented painter). What started as an email exchange magically turned into helping produce an event to celebrate British chef Rachel Khoo and the completion of the manuscript of her 120-recipe cookbook, The Little Paris Kitchen. We wanted to give Rachel a break from cooking so we called in Lauren Kennedy Malpas and Alison Reid of the House that Jack Built to host and make delicious goodies (their recipes are in the issue, including a knock-your-socks-off Mirabelle Plum ice cream that you make in a trash bag!). As for guests we called in French stylist Elodie Rambaud (the stylist on all of Rachel’s books, and how I first met Rachel), Swedish glove designer Thomasine Barnekow and social media and music guru Jeff Marois. We were even lucky enough to have Rubi Jones on hand as hair stylist to make us extra beautiful (note: in cracks me up that in the article I’m wearing a striped dress and carrying baguettes!). Below is a little sneak peek inside the shoot with images from my iPhone, but photographer Aubrey Trinnaman‘s shots (with the help of assistant Charlotte Beck) for the story do a much better day capturing the day. I couldn’t be more pleased how it all turned out.
