The Colors of Burano {Italy}
From Venice there are several interesting day trips one can take outside to the city. Murano, famous for its colorful glass is one of the places the visitors frequent, but according to most people it feels more like Disneyland full of tourists. Instead, during my recent trip to Venice, we opted to take advice of friends and head up to Burano, a colorful island full of locals. The island is about 1.5 hours from San Marco Square, by Vaporetto “metro” boat. Not knowing much about the place – except that it came highly recommended from several friends – it made getting off the boat that much more exciting, as we soon entered a maze of vibrant color almost as if we were in the Caribbean. I couldn’t help but think, how have I never heard, nor seen pictures of this place ever before this trip. An afternoon of exploring and a delicious local lunch, Margaret and I couldn’t help but remind each other how cool and colorful this place was. It also made for an ideal location for finding our favorite colors and impromptu photoshoots.
Take note: Burano, Italy is the place to see.
