Blog’nhagen
Blog’nhagen is first in a series of blogger meet-ups created to bring these online personas together in real-life while they explore the best of the best of each city. First stop: Copenhagen, Denmark, July 3rd. Brittany Watson Jepsen aka The House that Lars Built and Maria Helgstrand Laursen are the two creative minds behind this perfect excuse for me to go to Copenhagen for the first time. While I had “known” Brittany online, I didn’t officially meet her until May when we were together in Berlin for The Hive Conference. As much as we all love blogging and chatting online, it turns out that when you put us all we know how to do is laugh and have a great time. I think we’ve all learned the importance of disconnecting and bringing these online worlds offline. Brittany had hinted about this event she and a friend were trying to cook up when we were in Berlin, and now the word is out, and they’ve pulled together an international mix of great bloggers and have lots of fun stuff in store. There’s an official website with all the info, and you can follow along on Facebook (like!), and twitter as well.
P.S. How cool is this? Grace Bonney aka Design*Sponge was named to FastCompany‘s League of Extraordinary Women 2012 list. I’ve been working with Grace on D*S since 2008, and couldn’t be happier for her. I wouldn’t be the blogger I am today without all I’ve learned from her over the years. She’s really raised the bar on what a “blog” is and can be. Congrats, Grace!

This sounds like an amazing little initiative! I hope you all have a wonderful time. It is so long since I last visited Copenhagen and I am hoping for a late summer visit – I recently worked on English translations for the contemporary art exhibition ‘Shaped by Time’ at the National Museum in the city, and whilst it thrills me to know my words are on a wall somewhere in that delightful building, to see them there myself would increase that joy tenfold!
