Boarding Pass – Rubi Jones
I first met Rubi Jones on the Anthology magazine shoot last fall, and most recently she was one of my roommates in Berlin. She also happens to be the one who cuts my hair in Paris and gave me my fabulous bangs. The great thing about Rubi is that she makes hair – a topic I typically wouldn’t be drawn to – fun and interesting through her blog She Let’s Her Hair Down. She often works on Fashion Week runway shows and all sorts of cool jobs, and this weekend I even got to watch her in action giving a free chignon workshop at Wanderlust Paris (she’ll be there the first 2 Saturdays of each month all summer). The fabulous thing about being a hairstylist is that she’s always talking to people and getting new insights, which also happen to make for great travel advice. Thanks, Rubi! –Anne

I’m a hairstylist so I always ask clients or co-workers for recommendations. I also research local blogs in the cities I’m going to and try to find places to eat and things to do that way.how do you record your travels when you’re traveling?
I take a lot of photos, with a lot of different cameras and take free postcards from anywhere I can.

“one place you would go back to again and again:
Bakio, Spain”
Bakio ? There´s a nice beach and the green hills around are beautiful, and you might surf on the sea waves a bit, but there´s nothing really more; a tiny village; she must have fallen in love with someone.
I would have said Lekeitio or Mundaka on the Guernica beautiful ría or Elantxobe in the same province or Castro Urdiales or Santoña or Santillana Del Mar and (Caves of Altamira) or Comillas and Suances in Cantabrian province.

Thanks for having me Anne!
Also, Robin, I love Bakio because it’s exactly what you described. A tiny village with a beach and a fairytale forest, nothing more. I will definitely have to check out the other place you listed though!

I like the old vintage feel of these photos! I recently bought a Lomo camera but I’m still experimenting with it!
