French Lessons: Les Soldes
Last week’s lesson was all about window licking (lèche vitrine), but today is all about buying. In fact, today officially marks the start of les soldes, the twice yearly sales that take place across France (think France’s version of “Black Friday”) over the course of a few weeks in order to make room for next season’s stock. Seeing as this month has felt more like fall than summer, for once I actually am in the mood to buy up some sweet summer pieces. I’ve also been eye-ing un sac à main (purse) and des jeans (jeans) that I’m hoping I can get un bon prix (good price) on. While the prices continue to go down each day, if there is something you actually want – and in your size – you better act fast! Happy solde-ing!!
French Lessons is an ongoing series where I teach you French words and cultural lessons while beefing up my Illustrator skills.

I love this series – a well-needed refreshment after years of lost French skills! There’s nothing quite like living in a country to learn the best bits of the language.

I once met the dearest friend while waiting on line at a solde ages ago. I’ll be there in July – I hope I don’t give way too much to temptation..
Of course I will.

Beware of “soldes”, do not let them weld you.
