Olimpia Zagnoli à Paris

Instagram has quickly become my favorite way of learning about great new things happening. Yesterday I saw this picture that Italian illustrator Olimpia Zagnoli posted and quickly realized it was here in France – at the Galerie Michel Lagarde in the 10ème where she’s having a show. I love Olimpia’s work for it’s simple, fun and whimsical style, which you may recognize from The New York Times (particularly in the 36 Hours book series). The excuse for the expo, her own book Monsieur Horizonal & Madame Verticale – Michel Lagard also doubles as a publishing house (éditions) – a collaboration with Noémie Révah, and as delightful as it is charming. (And yes, I bought a copy!)File created with CoreGraphicspretavoyager-olimpiaparis-4pretavoyager-olimpiaparis-7pretavoyager-olimpiaparis-5The book is 16€ and prints run between 30-100€ (totally affordable! but prices do go up after the show is over).

A bit unsuspecting with its frosted windows from the outside, you enter Galerie Michel Lagard from a calm neighborhood street and step foot into a creative studio/gallery space. The bright colors in Olimpia’s work go beautifully with the colorful spines of the books that line the opposite wall. And some of her work is tucked into the bookshelves, making it extra fun to discover.

I featured Olimpia’s home on Design*Sponge a couple years ago. There’s also a great interview with her on The Great Discontent. And if you’re in Paris anytime soon, definitely stop by the show! (Just note the hours below). I never would have happened upon it on my own, so I’m so glad I stumbled upon it on Olimpia’s Instagram feed. You can find more of her work here.
