I’ve been a big fan of Herb Lester maps and have been meaning to post about them for ages. I had a few in my own collection, and the team at Herb Lester kindly sent over a few other samples. The great thing about these maps is that they’re beautiful and a keepsake even if you’re not going anywhere. It’s a pity that tourist shops only sell cheap tsotchkes rather than beautifully illustrated maps. And don’t be fooled by these maps – they are most affordable too at  £4.00 each, or a city set of 4 for £14.00. They make perfect gifts too. I know just who I’m sending the new Miami map. The other nice thing is that each map has a personality of its own to reflect the location, and the author and illustrator is clearly credited – or should I say celebrated – on the back of each. Even though I don’t have kids of my own, I was excited to see the Paris en Famille map for family friendly ideas in the city. I think it’s the perfect way to help teach kids about maps, and it’s far lighter than carrying around a heavy guide book. And after browsing the site again, I’m realizing I want them all!
